As a simulation of the actual United Nations, delegates at SIDMUN are expected to appear and present themselves in a professional manner. With this in mind, the SIDMUN staff will be enforcing a strict dress code for all participants, generally requiring “Western business attire”.

Although the primary purpose of SIDMUN is to serve as a learning environment for Model United Nations, outstanding performance in each committee will be recognized in the form of awards. There will be two classifications of awards: Novice and Advanced. If a delegation consists of one novice delegate and one advanced delegate, the delegation is no longer eligible for a Novice award. Committee directors will take the following into account to determine award recipients: knowledge of nation’s policy, knowledge of the committee topic, quality of position papers, ability to cooperate with other delegates, abilities in caucusing, resolution writing, debate, and other aspects of MUN, active participation in debate.
